This FAQ is edited by Thorman Lungie, with contributions from the other slackers, I mean staff, of Artly There. Namely, Robert Covington, the program author, termed loosely.
Q: What hence the name of this program?
A: What hence the hence? How about you take a hints and ask something a little better worded? Thankee.
Q: Sorry, What hints the name of this Program?
A: Well, one hint. It eventually was to Composite.
Q: What is the origin of this program?
A: I paint from photo's at times (airbrush) and wanted to know how a portion of an image would appear on a certain size canvas, and ideally, wanted to see how _any portion_ would look. Thus the Compositor Black Matte paradigm.
Q: The program doesn't have a scale command. How can I get around this for now?
A: Turn on Show Info (Options Menu) and then set the size of the frame to the size you wish. Copy Window (Edit Menu) then paste. New With Current. Voila.
Q: Some of the filters, like some of the Big G filters seem to work in a somewhat skewed direction.
A: Yes, indeed. To alter the direction of application for now, just flip your image horizontally or vertically and run the filter as usual.
Q: What does Stroke Frame do exactly?
A:When chosen, the frame is left behind in whatever the current color is. Imprinted onto the image so to speak.
Q: Quicktime takes a while to get the dialog going when I import or open an image.
A: I was annoyed at that too, so if this is a problem for you, as when you have a large number of image files to sort through, choose Option Key + the File command. This will cancel out the preview dialog variation and give you a regular more speedy dialog.
Q: Any hope for a paintbrush ever?
A: Soon as I can!
Q: What is in store for the program?
A: Assuming it is well received to some degree, it will be upgraded over time. The sliders will be upgraded to something more fancy, though I like the simplicity of the current ones. Numeric entry for certain dialogs will be added. The Chantrast dialog will be combined into the Brightness and Contrast Dialog. Full Size previews may be instigated. A transport control palette like a tape deck should allow for stepping though the Filter-Ville Channel Whack 53 more easily, and allow for back and forth options.
Q: And them paint tools?
A: Already made, just need to install.
Q: Where do you see this program in the graphic continuum?
A: It is not designed to be nor ever will be a Photoshop replacement, nor a Graphic Converter replacement. It will be what it is, when it gets there. :)
Q: Right....
A: I wrote it for me is what I am saying.
Q: Any other tips for now?
A: Yes, write us here and we will answer your questions.
Q: I think that will conclude our Compositor FAQ and Interview.
A: That was fast.
